Hosting a public screening of At the End of Slavery for your congregation and/or in your community will build momentum and excitement for the Weekend to End Slavery, share the beauty and powerful message of the film, and give people a model for what their house parties can look like.

These larger screenings can also serve as a powerful tool for the church to use in its ministry and outreach to the local community. By screening the film, churches can share with their community that they are passionate about biblical justice and a safe place for those in the local community suffering from injustice. Churches can also use these events to share about what they are doing to rescue and serve those in slavery around the world, and invite the community to participate with the church in God’s call to seek justice and rescue the oppressed.

We have created a single screening kit, which provides resources that will work well both in a large-scale screening as well as in a smaller house party setting.

• 2 copies of At the End of Slavery: The Battle for Justice in Our Time – one to screen and one to share with a friend to grow the movement.
• 10 cards that take you step-by-step through the process of hosting a screening – from planning to discussion questions, to key messages to share with your guests.
• 15 Abolition Postcards for attendees to sign as first action step in the fight against slavery. IJM will hand-deliver the Abolition Postcards on Capitol Hill to advocate for anti-slavery and anti-trafficking legislation. (Will you need more than 15 cards?)

You can welcome attendees by sharing the story of how you or your church became aware of God’s heart for justice, learned about issues of injustice and became involved with IJM. You can show the film, and then lead a discussion about what was seen, brainstorm action steps, and then lead attendees in signing the Abolition Postcards. There are resources in the kit to help you with each of these steps. But please feel free to be creative and tailor the event to your specific audience!

Yes, of course! If you are unable to show the film prior to November 14, or would just like to hold an additional screening, please feel free to host a large-group screening or to have your small groups view the film at any time. You can also hold your own house party initiative after November 14 to have your church members share the message and reach out to colleagues, neighbors and friends.
